Warranties & Guarantees
Details of the warranties and guarantees provided with our installations.
1.1 Overview
This section explains how warranties and guarantees apply to equipment supplied and/or installed under this Contract. Warranties may comprise a combination of manufacturer warranties (covering equipment and components) and the Contractor's own workmanship warranty. Statutory consumer rights are not affected by the provisions of this section.
1.2 General Warranty Terms – Materials and Labour
1.2.1 Notification of Faults
In the event of a suspected fault or defect in any equipment supplied and/or installed under this Contract, the Customer shall notify the Contractor in writing as soon as reasonably practicable. The notification shall include, where reasonably available:
- a clear description of the fault or issue;
- details of the affected equipment, including make, model, and serial number;
- the installation address; and
- any relevant supporting evidence, such as photographs, alarms, or error codes.
Failure to provide sufficient information may result in delays in assessment or resolution.
1.2.2 Initial Assessment
Upon receipt of a fault notification, the Contractor shall assess the issue to determine whether it may fall within the scope of an applicable warranty. This assessment may be undertaken remotely or by attendance on site, at the Contractor's discretion.
1.2.3 Manufacturer Product Warranties
Many system components are covered by warranties provided directly by their respective manufacturers. Where applicable:
- the Contractor may assist the Customer in submitting and progressing a warranty claim with the manufacturer;
- repair or replacement of defective equipment shall be subject to the manufacturer's warranty terms and conditions; and
- the cost of replacement parts or equipment shall be borne by the manufacturer where the claim is accepted.
The Contractor shall not be liable for any delay, refusal, or decision by a manufacturer in respect of a warranty claim.
Certain manufacturer warranties require product registration, commissioning documentation, and/or ongoing servicing. Failure to comply with such requirements may invalidate the manufacturer warranty.
1.2.4 Ancillary Components
Ancillary components supplied as part of the system (including, without limitation, pumps, valves, expansion vessels, control equipment, thermostats, electrical protection devices, and similar items) shall be covered by either:
- the applicable manufacturer's warranty; or
- the Contractor's standard materials and workmanship warranty for a period of twenty-four (24) months from the date of practical completion, unless stated otherwise in writing.
Repairs or replacements outside the applicable warranty period may incur labour and material charges, which shall be agreed in writing prior to any works being undertaken.
1.2.5 Workmanship (Labour) Warranty
The Contractor warrants that installation works will be carried out with reasonable skill and care. A workmanship warranty applies for a period of twenty-four (24) months from the date of practical completion.
Where a valid workmanship defect is identified within this period, the Contractor shall carry out necessary remedial works at no cost to the Customer.
Where the workmanship warranty period has expired, or where the fault is determined not to relate to the Contractor's workmanship, the Contractor reserves the right to charge a call-out fee and labour costs, which shall be agreed in writing in advance.
1.2.6 Exclusions
The warranties provided under this Contract shall not apply to faults or defects arising from:
- misuse, neglect, accidental damage, or operation outside manufacturer guidance;
- alterations, extensions, adjustments, or repairs carried out by third parties without the Contractor's prior written consent;
- changes in system configuration, connected load, control strategy, or usage from that originally designed and commissioned;
- failure to carry out required servicing or maintenance in accordance with manufacturer instructions; or
- normal wear and tear, building movement, environmental conditions, or deterioration occurring after completion due to lack of reasonable care.
1.2.7 Variations and Upgrades
Where a warranty claim results in a manufacturer offering alternative or upgraded equipment, any change in specification, scope, or cost shall constitute a variation and shall be agreed in writing prior to installation.
1.3 Transferability and Change of Ownership
1.3.1
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, the Contractor's workmanship warranty attaches to the equipment and installation works carried out under this Contract and shall continue for the remainder of the stated warranty period notwithstanding any sale, transfer, letting, or other change in ownership or occupation of the property.
1.3.2
The workmanship warranty:
- does not restart, extend, or renew as a result of any change in ownership or occupation;
- applies solely to the original scope of works completed under this Contract; and
- remains subject to all exclusions, limitations, and conditions set out in this Contract.
1.3.3
Any person seeking to rely on the workmanship warranty following a change of ownership or occupation must:
- provide reasonable evidence of the original installation date and scope of works;
- demonstrate compliance with applicable operation and maintenance requirements; and
- permit reasonable access for inspection, testing, and verification.
1.3.4
Nothing in this section creates or implies any contractual relationship between the Contractor and any subsequent owner or occupier beyond the limited continuation of the workmanship warranty for the remainder of the applicable period.
Manufacturer warranties are governed separately by the manufacturers' terms and may be transferable or non-transferable in accordance with those terms.
